Legit Home Leads Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 21, 2025
Legit Home Leads, Inc. (“Legit Home Leads,” “we,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from users of our Platform (including the website at legithomeleads.com and any related mobile apps), how we use and share that information, and your rights with respect to that information. This Policy applies to both Homeowners and Contractors (Service Professionals) using our Platform in the United States. By using the Platform, you agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these practices, please do not use the Platform.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information from and about users in two main ways: (a) information you provide to us directly, and (b) information collected automatically through technology when you use the Platform. The types of information we collect are outlined below.
a. Information You Provide Directly
- Homeowner Information: If you are a Homeowner submitting a service request or contacting Contractors through our Platform, we may collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, and street address (where the project is located). We will also collect details about your project or service request, which could include the type of service needed, descriptions of the job, budget, timing, and any other information you choose to provide about your home improvement needs. You are not required to create an account to submit this information, but you do provide these details via online forms. This information is necessary for us to connect you with relevant Contractors.
- Contractor Information: If you are a Contractor registering an account on Legit Home Leads, we will ask for information about you and your business. This may include personal and business information such as your name, business or company name, contact information (email, phone, mailing address), professional license or certification numbers, trade skills or service categories, years of experience, and insurance coverage details. We also collect login credentials (username and password) that you create. Additionally, if you purchase leads or other services, we will collect payment information (such as credit card number, billing address, and other billing details) in order to process transactions. Payment information may be collected by us and/or processed via a secure third-party payment processor – we do not store full credit card numbers on our own servers. Contractors may also provide additional content on their profile (like photos, descriptions, or credentials) and any communications with Homeowners via the Platform.
- Communications: If you communicate with us or with other users through the Platform, we collect the information in those communications. For example, if you email us for support, we will collect your email address and the content of your message. If our Platform offers messaging between Homeowners and Contractors, we will collect those message contents. We also collect any responses you provide through surveys or feedback requests, if applicable.
- Optional Information: You may choose to provide other information optional to your use of the Platform. For instance, Contractors might upload a profile photo or company logo, provide references or customer reviews, or link to social media. Homeowners may provide additional details about their project or preferences. Any such optional information is collected and stored as part of your account or inquiry records.
b. Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: When you use our Platform, we automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with our services. This can include your IP address, browser type, device type (e.g., mobile or desktop), unique device identifiers, operating system, and approximate location (e.g., city or region) derived from your IP. We also log details about your usage, such as the pages or screens you view, how long you spend, what links or buttons you click, the date and time of access, and referral URLs (which site or ad led you to our Platform).
- Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies (like web beacons or pixels) to collect information about your browsing activities over time and across different parts of our Platform. Cookies are small data files stored on your browser or device. They help us remember your preferences, understand usage patterns, and personalize content. We (and authorized third parties) may use cookies for analytics purposes (to see how users find and use our site) and for advertising or retargeting (to show our ads on other sites based on your interactions with our Platform). You can control cookies through your browser settings and other tools (see Your Rights and Choices below for more on opting out).
- Third-Party Analytics: We may use third-party analytics services (like Google Analytics) that use cookies or other tracking technologies to help us analyze user behavior. These services collect information about your interactions with the Platform and report aggregated trends. They may also set and read their own cookies and similar technologies. This Privacy Policy covers our use of data, but does not cover third-party services’ use of your information. However, these analytics providers are restricted from using the data for purposes other than providing services to us.
- Mobile Device Data: If you access our Platform via a mobile app (if available) or mobile browser, we might collect mobile-specific information like your device identifier, platform, and certain device settings. We might also collect geolocation data (with your consent) via your mobile device’s GPS to tailor service provider results or if you actively provide a location in a request.
c. Information from Third Parties
- Background Check Information: For Contractors, as noted in our Terms of Use, we may receive information from third-party background check providers or identity verification services. For example, we might obtain results of a criminal record check or verification of your professional license statushoosierpro.com. This information is used strictly to evaluate your eligibility or suitability as a service professional on our Platform and for trust and safety purposes. We handle any such sensitive information in accordance with applicable law. (Note: we do not obtain consumer credit reports without your explicit consent, but we may use business credit information or public records relevant to your business services as allowed.)
- Lead Generation Partners: In some cases, we might receive a Homeowner’s inquiry via a partner site or affiliate. For example, if you filled out a home project request on a partner website that funnels leads to us, that information may be passed to Legit Home Leads. We treat such information in line with this Privacy Policy, but the initial collection might also be subject to the partner’s privacy policy. We will disclose if applicable when such scenarios occur.
- Social Media or Other Accounts: If in the future we allow you to link or log in via a third-party account (e.g., Google or Facebook), we may receive certain profile information from those third parties as authorized by you (such as your name, email, etc.). We will inform you at the time of linking what information we would receive.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, or precise biometric data from Platform users, except as may be required for identity verification of Contractors (and in such cases, we collect and process it with appropriate security and only as needed). We also do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 (see Children’s Privacy below).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for various purposes in operating our business and providing our services to you. The primary purposes for which we use your information are described below:
- To Provide Services and Operate the Platform: We use your information to facilitate the connections between Homeowners and Contractors. For Homeowners, this means using the details of your service request to match you with suitable Contractors in your area and to send your contact information and project details to those Contractorshomeadvisor.com. For Contractors, we use your profile information to include you in our contractor network and to display your business to potential customers. We also use information to allow communications through the Platform (for example, delivering messages or quote responses between Homeowners and Contractors). Essentially, your info is used to deliver the functionality you expect – connecting people who need services with those who provide them.
- Account Management and Customer Support: We use personal information to create and maintain your account, authenticate you when you log in, and manage any subscriptions or lead purchase arrangements. We also use your contact information (like email or phone) to communicate with you about your account or transactions, such as sending confirmations, invoices, technical notices, updates, security alerts, and administrative messages. If you contact us for help, we will use the information you provided (and information we have about your account) to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and answer your questions.
- Processing Payments: For Contractors, we use financial and payment information to process payments for leads, subscriptions, or other services you purchasehomeadvisor.com. This may include charging your credit card for lead fees, verifying billing information, and handling things like invoices or payment disputes. Payment processing may be done via third-party processors (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, etc.), but we share the minimum necessary information with them to charge your card or account.
- Improving and Personalizing the Platform: We use data about how users interact with our Platform to understand what is working and what isn’t. This helps us troubleshoot problems, develop new features, and improve the quality and usability of our serviceshomeadvisor.comhomeadvisor.com. For example, we might analyze usage data to see which pages are most visited or where users drop off during the lead request process, so we can optimize those areas. We may also use cookies to remember your preferences (like your location or profile settings) to personalize your experience. Additionally, we might use Homeowner project data in aggregate to identify trends (e.g., common types of service requests in a region) that help us improve how we match users and contractors.
- Marketing and Communications: We may use your contact information to send you promotional messages or newsletters about our services, new features, or special offers, but only in accordance with applicable law. For example, if you sign up with your email, we might send you tips for using the Platform or promotions for premium services. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in those emails or adjusting your account preferences. We may also send push notifications or in-app messages if you use our mobile app (with your consent). We will not spam you, and you have control over marketing communications (see Your Rights and Choices below).
- Matching and Recommendations: We may use the information we have about Contractors (such as services offered, service area, ratings) and Homeowners (location, type of project) to make smarter matches or recommendations. For instance, we could suggest additional contractors to a homeowner if more are available, or recommend certain leads to a contractor based on their past activity or stated preferences. These processes may involve some automated decision-making (profiling) to serve users better. However, final decisions (like which contractor a homeowner chooses) are always up to the users.
- Reviews and Feedback Display: If our Platform enables Homeowners to rate or review Contractors (or vice versa), we will use your submitted feedback to inform other users. For example, if you write a review for a Contractor, we may display that review, along with your first name and last initial or other agreed identifier, on the Contractor’s profile for others to seehomeadvisor.comhomeadvisor.com. We use such content to build trust and accountability in our Platform community. (Providing reviews is optional, and by doing so you agree to our use of them as described.)
- Safety, Security, and Fraud Prevention: We may use information to protect the security of our Platform, our users, and the public. This includes using data to detect and prevent fraud, spam, abuse, or other malicious activities. For instance, we might monitor login locations to detect account takeovers, or use phone/email verification to reduce fake accounts. We also may use personal data to investigate and block fraudulent transactions (like suspicious credit card use)homeadvisor.com. If necessary, information may be used to enforce our Terms of Use or to pursue remedies available to us at law.
- Background Screening: For Contractors, we use personal information (such as your name, address, and if provided, identification details) to perform background checks or verify licenses as described abovehomeadvisor.com. The results of these checks are used internally to decide whether to approve you as a service professional on the Platform and may be summarized to Homeowners (e.g., showing that a “background check is verified” or a badge indicating screening). However, detailed background report information is not disclosed publicly; it’s used for trust and safety vetting.
- Legal Compliance: We may use or disclose your information as necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requestshomeadvisor.com. This includes using information to respond to subpoenas or court orders, enforcing our agreements, billing and record-keeping for tax or accounting purposes, and fulfilling our obligations under consumer protection laws (for instance, responding to verified user requests to exercise privacy rights).
- Other Purposes: We may use your information for any other purpose that we describe at the point where you provide it, or otherwise with your consent. For example, if we ever run contests or promotions, we would use the info you submit to administer those.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposesriskthinking.ai. We only use and share your data as described in this Policy. If we plan to use your personal data in a way that is materially different from what is described here or from what was disclosed to you at the time of collection, we will notify you and obtain consent as required.
3. How We Share Your Information
We understand the importance of keeping your personal information private. We share personal information with others only in the following circumstances:
- Sharing between Homeowners and Contractors: The very purpose of our Platform is to connect Homeowners and Contractors, so we share information between users in this context. If you are a Homeowner submitting a service request, the personal information and project details you provide will be shared with one or more applicable Contractors so they can contact you about your requesthomeadvisor.com. This typically includes your first and last name, the best contact method (phone and/or email), and the general location/address of the project. Likewise, if you as a Homeowner request to book or get a quote from a specific Contractor listed on our Platform, we will pass your contact information and request details to that Contractor. If you are a Contractor, certain business information from your profile will be visible to Homeowners (and public) on our Platform – for example, your business name, city, phone number, services offered, license info (if provided), and ratings/reviewshomeadvisor.com. We do not share a Contractor’s sensitive personal info (like payment info or background check details) with Homeowners, only the info needed for the selection and communication process. Note that any communications or transactions you subsequently have with each other (outside of our Platform’s initial exchange) are at your discretion.
- Service Providers (Processors): We share information with third-party companies that perform services on our behalf to help us operate the business and the Platform. These service providers are authorized to use personal information only as necessary to provide their services to us and are bound by contractual obligations to keep such information confidential. Examples of service providers include:
- Payment processors and billing services – for processing credit card transactions or subscription paymentshomeadvisor.com.
- Background check and identity verification services – to conduct screenings on Contractorshomeadvisor.com.
- Email and text message providers – to send out communications to users (for instance, an email service to send newsletters or a SMS gateway to send text notifications).
- Hosting and cloud storage providers – that securely store our databases or host our website.
- Analytics providers – such as Google Analytics, which help us understand usage of our Platform (they may set their own tracking technologies on our site to collect info on our behalf).
- Marketing and customer support tools – for instance, a service that helps us manage email marketing or a CRM for support inquiries.
- Collections or credit agencies – solely in cases where we need to collect delinquent payments from a Contractor, we might share limited info necessary for that purposehomeadvisor.com.
- These companies will have access to personal information as needed to perform their functions but are not permitted to use it for their own purposes (such as direct marketing to you)homeadvisor.com.
- Business Partners and Affiliates: We may share your information with affiliated companies (under common ownership or control with Legit Home Leads) or trusted business partners. For example, if Legit Home Leads is part of a group of companies, we might share data with our affiliates for internal business purposes (like centralized storage or analytics)homeadvisor.com. If we have a co-branded service or partnership arrangement (say, a marketing affiliate that referred you to our Platform), we might share certain info (like your email or the fact you became a user) with that partnerhomeadvisor.com, to the extent needed to honor the partnership (for instance, to pay a referral fee). We will not share your personal information with third parties for their own independent marketing or advertising without your consent.
- Advertising and Analytics Partners: We may allow third-party advertising networks and analytics companies to collect information about your use of our Platform over time through cookies and other tracking technologies. These third parties may use this information to display ads relevant to your interests on our Platform or other websites/services. For example, we might use Google Ads or Facebook Pixel to help deliver our ads to audiences who have visited our site. While we do not “sell” data in the sense of exchanging it for money, some of this data sharing for tailored advertising might be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal data under certain privacy laws. We provide options for you to opt out of such practices (see Your Rights and Choices). These partners typically receive information like your device identifiers, browser information, and browsing activity on our site (e.g., pages visited, actions taken). They do not get identifying info like your name or contact unless you separately provided that to
